A welcome from our new On-snow skiing coordinator - racing
Hullo fellow LRNSC skiers!
I’d like to introduce myself as your new On-snow skiing coordinator - racing. For those who don’t know me I’m an enthusiastic xc skier and roller skier, and often coach for the club and Snowsport England. I’ve skied for many years and completed a lot of ski marathons. I like the smaller, often quirky, distance races, and I am full of admiration for those of you who throw yourselves into the melee of Worldloppets and the iconic Engadins and Vasaloppets.
What will I be doing as On-snow skiing coordinator - racing? The broad objective is to promote and encourage racing within the Club. I’ve been asked to organise at least one Club trip per year that includes a race, and this season I’m involved with two of these: Ramsau (Dachsteinlauf) in January and Dobbiaco (Gsiesertallauf) in February.
Beyond that it largely depends on what you as Club members want, so please do contact me if you have ideas. To start with we can share more of our racing experiences through the Club Facebook page: I know lots of you are doing various races this season and it would be great to hear how these went: please do share and if you’d like to provide a short article for the newsletter that would be even better [contact the Newsletter Editor Anthea Heyes Also do use the our Facebook page if you have queries about racing, or about specific races: we have plenty of seasoned racers in the Club who are more than happy to share their knowledge.
I look forward to hearing from you!
