Roller skiing at Redbridge Cycling Centre
The Redbridge Cycling Centre offers an excellent circuit suitable for roller skiing. The track is currently open for casual use by roller skiers as well as cyclists on Monday-Sunday 9am-5pm, excluding times when the online Centre calendar indicates that the circuit is closed or booked for an event.
For the small fee of £2.60 to use half of the track or £4.60 for the whole track for up to two hours, you can ski on car-free smooth tarmac surrounded by trees and wildflowers, and from the reception area take in the panorama of the London skyline in the distance. The lower track circuit is less challenging than the hillier upper track, but still provides a good work out with some gentle undulations, twists and turns.
On Tuesday mornings there is a small informal gathering of roller skiers from around 10.30am and the circuit has plenty of capacity to have more skiers join us. There is no coaching, but individuals with their own equipment wanting to ski would be welcome to join us on the track at this time. We usually stay for refreshments and sociable chat afterwards which makes for an enjoyable end to the morning’s exertions.
