Saturday 7 December - Twilight mince pie roller ski tour in Richmond Park

4.30pm Saturday 7 December

Come on a twilight roller ski tour of Richmond Park

Each December Club roller skiers meet at Richmond Park for a tour of the park by torchlight.  It's a relaxed and informal event which provides a good opportunity to meet other members. The roads close to traffic at dusk and so at 4.30pm we start outside Sheen Gate for a circular tour of the park, a distance of about 7.5 miles.

With no traffic to worry about and plenty of space we take a leisurely pace.  We stop regularly to regroup with a break halfway to enjoy mince pies and gluhwein at one of the park's viewpoints.

The tour is usually over by about 6.30pm. Afterwards there is the option of a trip to a local Indian restaurant.

What to do next

  • To participate please register in advance and no later than 6pm Friday 6 December.  You can also tell us if you would like to go for an Indian meal afterwards when you register.  You need to be a member of LRNSC or join the Club to participate.
  • If you wish to hire equipment please contact us no later than 6pm 30 November.

Key information

  • You should wear bicycle lights or headtorches and high visibility clothing if you have it.  Helmets are mandatory [on all Club roller ski events].
  • Bring some water to drink.
  • Allow plenty of time to get to the Park, traffic is usually quite heavy in the area at that time.
  • The tour is not recommended for beginners, you should be able to rollerski safely at an easy pace for an hour with breaks. Cyclists are also welcome on the tour.
  • We will provide the mince pies and the gluhwein.
